                                                    Risk assessing

This page is here to help organisations to risk assess flights with us, the list is by no means exhaustive and should only be taken as guidance.

A few things you might want to consider are:
  • Mobility - will the service user be able to get in the aircraft? This involves getting on the wing, there is a step and handle to help and it is possible to hoist to the wing but movement is limited to the black section of the wing (as pictured). In special circumstances it may be possible to use an aircraft with wings above the entrance but this is only a 2 seater so a carer can not accompany the service user.
  • Does the service user tend to touch things without understanding what they are/what affect they can have? If so they may need to sit in the back.
  • Is the service user likely to run off?

  • Will the service user be able to effectively use the step small step and handle?

  • Will the service user understand that they may only stand on the black painted part of the wing? Stepping elsewhere may damage the aircraft.

  • Will the step down into the cockpit be a problem? This can cause problems with people with little movement in their legs.
