Date set for next flying date now at Kemble airfield

Over time the members of the committee have changed, the group is now run by Shane and Zoe Touhey who live in Gloucestershire and with recent changes in licensing meaning Flight Horizons needed to find a new home Gloucestershire made a lot of sense. The next flying day for Flight Horizons will be 25 July 2010.

Sponsored Mountain climb complete

On Saturday the 27th June 2009 Shane Touhey and John Russell climbed Ben Nevis to raise money for Flight Horizons. Ben Nevis is the tallest mountain in Britain at 4,409 feet tall. The climb up took 3 1/2 hours and involved climbing through snow, fog and high winds. Around £400 was raised for Flight Horizons which will help us to continue to provide flights to people who live in care. See the photos in the photo section.

Documents updated

Not the most thrilling news but I thought you may be interested to know that you can now view the accounts for the financial year April 2008 - April 2009 along with our minutes from the last committee meeting and our updated versions of the Flight Horizons policies - these can all be found in the 'Documents' section which is a sub menu of the 'About us' section which can be found on the left hand side of this page. Flight Horizons flying day moved to April 24th.

The date for the flights this year has been postponed in order to meet the needs of the people flying. A slight alteration and we are back on track for another excitement filled day!

Flight horizons on track for 2009 Flights.

Work is currently underway to prepare for providing flights in March of 2009 and we are currently on track for another successful year. Flight horizons has undergone a few changes over the last year. Prominently the governing committee has changed and is now made up of Shane Touhey and his sister Zoe Touhey. We are seeking a third member to give their time to help organise these events. If you are interested please contact us.

Flight horizons flying day a soaring success.

Flight horizons provides flights for 11 people with learning disabilities and their carers with lots of smiles all round. Many thanks to everybody involved who made this a very special day. The people who flew in the light aircraft had an opportunity to fly over a nearby location over their choice, view beautiful Kent scenery by air and for some to handle the controls! Each person who flew also received a certificate as a souvenir of their experience.
